How to get rid of a weird symbol

I did something, but I don't know what, that made this pair of weird symbols appear. Can anyone tell me what they are and how to get rid of them? I don't seem to find a way to select them. Also, if I use MuseScore's screenshop option, they don't appear on the screenshot. (I used my Mac's "Grab" app to get this screenshot.)
