To delete a note, select it and press Delete. MuseScore will replace it with a rest, leaving all other notes exactly on the same beats where you originally entered them - an important principle to keep in mind.
If you want to move subsequent notes earlier in time, select the notes you wish to move (eg, click the first, shift click the last), press Ctrl+X to cut, then click where you want to move them to, and press Ctrl+V to paste. There's actually no need to delete the original note at all - just paste the notes you want to mvoe directly on top of it.
Sounds like you are having some sort of problem but it isn't clear what. Best to start a new thread in the Support forum (eg, using Help / Ask for Help, from within MuseScore) and describe your problem clearly, attaching your score and giving precise step by step instructions to reproduce whatever the problem is that you are having.

I would suggest reading the Handbook section on note input to get a basic idea of how MuseScore works: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/note-input
Also maybe watch the tutorial videos starting with https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLTYuWi2LmaPGb4SKXHm9JULQ-0CH8KpUk&v…
