Vocals on just some rows, not others. And: signs for foot (church organ)
Hi! I searched the help, but did not find answers to these two questions:
1. I have an organ score. It is supposed to have vocals too, but not everywhere, just some measures. How can I add instruments/voices without having to add them to the whole piece? I understand that they have to be the whole row where the vocals are, but I don't want them to steal so much space by adding them everywhere.
I also discovered when I tried, that I can only get the vocal rows UNDER the organ notes, if I add after the score is created. How can I change position?
2. How can I add signs for the pedal for church organ. Signs that tell what foot and if it is toe or heel that should play a certain note.
Comments
1. Add vocals and once finished eneable 'hide empty staves'
2. Even if it is about feet, I think the fingering falette is what you'd need`?

Thanks! The finger palette do not have this, but the other answer was correct and I found it.

Hmm, I'd think it belongs into the fingering Palette, maybe we should file this in the issue tracker?
Style ->General ->Hide Empty Staves.
Turn this OFF to begin with, write the whole score then turn it ON. Any stave (whole row) with nothing in it will not display or print.
Press i to bring up the Instrument list. Click on an instrument and then Up or Down button.
Organ symbols can be found in the Master Palette ([Shift]F9] under Symbols. Once you have your symbols, place them on a score and [Ctrl][Shift] - drag them (one by one) to a Custon Palette (qv).

Thank you!
Everything solved.
But now I just wonder: I want vocals sopran + alt on one row, and tenor + bass. I can get it, but it says just sopran for the row (or alt, whatever I choose).
I can't find any instrument that has S+A and T+B.
How can I get that (also so that on new rows, it say S+A, not writes Sopran + Alt every new row).

You can set the instrument names for a staff to anything you want - just right click, Staff Properties, and change the text in the "Long" (for first system of piece) and "Short" (for subsequent systems) name fields.

Thanks!
I am a beginner, and English is also not my first language, so I sometimes find it hard to find help in English (som words I don't know) for this kind of stuff.

You could use the SATB Closed score template for this

Oh, I did not find any. I will search for it. In my program, it is not amongst vocals, and I checked all instruments one can add when score is created. Maybe one must choose it when creating the score from scratch?

yes, you can select templates only when creating a new score

Now I can see that all emty measures are not hidden. The first row wont hid any. With this score this is = one exta page for the last row :P I can't find any way to hide the first row.
I also now see that the two vocal rows are to close. The text for singing, are in the same space as smoe notes and bows. I must be the worst searcher, cause I just can't find how to make this space bigger. Hope you know.
At least I found how to give alto it's own text, and soprano it's own text. ^_^

'don't hide empty staves first system' or some such needs to be unchecked for this, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/layout-and-formatting-0#style-edit-ge…,
and lyrics upper and lower distance can get set to better suiting values, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/layout-and-formatting-0#style-edit-ge…
