Bracket is knocked out
If you are zoomed into the score and you get to the point where as you enter notes and the bar moves down to the next line, the bracket for this next line knocks out of place.
Has anyone experienced this? I'm struggling to reproduce the steps.
Using 10.4.11 and 0.9.6.3.

By "bracket" do you mean the curly or square bracket that you can add to the left hand side of each system?

After looking at the palette (as opposed to right clicking it next to the bar), it is the akkolade.
I did find this , but I don't believe it's quite the same issue.
I'm not able to reproduce using 0.9.6.3 stable, Windows 7.
The error seemed to happen when I was editing notes. However, I've encountered it in a different way (that might help towards fixing it full stop):
1. Open attached score.
2. 'Hide Empty Staves'.
3. Untick 'Hide Empty Staves'.
The bar seems to have been knocked out as well.
Workaround: Click on the akkolade and 'Reset Positions'.
Using 10.4.11 and 0.9.6.3.
Can someone confirm please?

These 2 files show what happened when I followed your directions.
Brackets.png shows what happened when I followed #2. and applied and okayed.

Thanks. According to the pictures, the brackets haven't been knocked out of place. Can someone else try (maybe a Mac user in particular)?
There actually seems to be two errors happening here generally when reproducing:
1) The brackets being knocked out.
2) Bar numbers are left behind (don't know if this is an issue).
Can others attempt to reproduce?

Ok, well first, it's a little silly to hide empty staves when there is only one part.
But yes, Mac 10.6.5 and MuseScore 0.9.6.3 I get the problem. It appears that when the staves are written back in, the measure number is placed at the beginning of the line, even though the Pno. label should come first. The bracket seems to be in the correct place actually. So it's really everything else that isn't moving back to where it should.
Testing in 3784... same result.

Thanks for confirming.
The uploaded one-instrument score was to demonstrate the issue. I have scores with multiple instruments, where I encountered it.
That said, does anyone agree that for scores with one instrument, 'Hide Empty Staves' should be greyed out?
I have filed a bug report:
#8576: Unticking Hide Empty Staves on single instrument scores reinstates bars with incorrect positioning
