Delete Instruments Suggestion

• Nov 24, 2010 - 16:41

Just a suggestion for clarity:

To delete an instrument, you have to go to the Create menu, and select Instruments. My OCD just finds it odd and maybe a little confusing that I have to go to Create in order to delete. Maybe break instruments off from the Create Menu and put somewhere else (possibly under the Layout menu)?

Not a big deal, I can just see how it would be confusing for a new user.

It bothers me too, but adding and removing instruments seems more substantial than "Layout" so I'm not sure that is the right place either. I don't know that it fits neatly with any menu.

The plan is to put all available symbols & functions into "create" palettes. This palettes should be read only.
The sidebar palettes can be modified by a user and usually represent a subset of the available symbols. Severeral different sidebar palettes can be managed with the "Profiles" functionality.

You can thin out the sidebar palettes to contain only symbols necessary for the type of score you are working on. This should make working with palettes easier and faster.

I agree that creat is an odd place for this, but I also don't know of a better place right now. Perhaps Edit. But I suspect a new top level menu might make sense at some point to house a number of score-level commands. For instance, splitting a staff in two, the Concert Pitch command, any explode/implode commands should they be added, a future dialog where one can set staff properties for all staves from a single place, etc.

But for now, I'd observe that the shortcut "I" is about as mnemonic as you could hope for. No need to actually enter the Create menu.

To delete an instrument on musescore, you have to go to the edit menu, and then click instruments. It will open up another window that you may have seen when creating a new file, to add your instruments. Simply select witch instrument you would like to delete and click remove, and then click OK, to save the transaction.

To put it simply:

Menu Bar>Edit>Instruments>Select>Remove>OK
