create parts

With a previous composition with many parts, I was able to create parts without much difficulty. But with the most current composition, a quartet, after putting in the parts' information and pressing the create button, though there is a little activity, very quickly the delete button begins to pulse and then nothing happens. So does anyone have a procedure to follow that might overcome this difficulty? Or advice on how to end up with part scares that I can print out? Glenn
