Dotted Barlines
I have played several songs in my high school band and youth symphony which have dotted barlines in the middles of measures to indicate a stylistic change or for counting purposes (they are sometimes placed after beat four in for example 7/4 time signature measures). These of course do not indicate multiple measures but simply a break within a measure. The only way I can find to do this in Musescore is to divide the measure into two measures, with the proper "Nominal" time signature but the respective "Actual" time signatures of the measure fragments. The problem with doing this is that it changes the reported measure numbers. Is there a better way to do this?

In the same dialog box where you changed the "actual" measure duration (right click -> Measure Properties), select the "Irregular" box. As described in the chapter Measures Operation of the handbook, "An irregular measure is not counted in the measure numbering". Note that you have to do this only for one of the irregular measures.

tbear2500, you can drag the dotted barlines to an actual notehead. This will allow you to have several dotted lines in the same measure.
