Position of Grace notes. (enquiry, not problem)
I have been transcribing some scores for friends, and have come across a passage where the grace note is positioned across the bar line to the note. (example attached)
Does this make a difference to the musical sound of the piece in question?
I have listened to that part of the piece with the grace note before the bar line, and after the bar line, and I cannot hear any difference to the melody.
Not being as knowledgeable as I'd like in music, would like to know if there is a reason for positioning grace notes as such.
Thank you.

The norm for grace notes would be immediately before the note it attaches to - so, after the barline. Can you show a picture of the actual score you are concerned with? Could be it is something else going on, like a trill ending as opposed to a grace note (they look similar).

Thank you Marc. trill ending could be the answer.
Since in the bar concerned, it was after a Whole note trill, I didn't associate it with the note.
I also found something similar in the previous bar, after a trill on a quarter note.

Yep, that's it all right. In which case, create it by selecting the note with the trill then adding "grace notes after" from the palette.
