guitar polyphony: a note with 2 durations

When I try to write 2 voices for guitar and a note has 2 values sample.png instead of having a single head with 2 beams I have 2 separate notes

How can I fix it (if possible)?

Just change that 1st dotted quarter's notehead in voice 1 or 1st eight notehead in voice 2 from Automatic to Quarter in the Inspector. Either will trigger MuseScore to make them share the head.
For correct playback you may want to make the shorter note silent, otherwise the longer note won't 'ring' for its whole duration (this is a know bug).
