Where are my templates?
I had a number of templates saved and was using them in previous versions of MuseScore. In fact, when I open the previous version, there they are! How do I access these files in 2.02? What I've had to do is open the file in the old version, save it, then open it in the new version… whew!

Yes but that's not the question. I want to open my old templates in the new version. How do I physically get to the previous templates from within the old version, or else copy them to the new location so I can get to them. I can't seem to find their physical location

Right. So, if you're using Mac OS X, "look under /Applications/MuseScore.app/Contents/Resources/templates" and copy the files to "~/Documents/MuseScore2/Templates." The Linux and WIndows locations are also in those two links.

Sorry, still don't see it. The only things in the applications folder are the MuseScore applications themselves

Ah, okay. The direct way to get there: in Finder, press [Shift]+[Cmd]+[G] and copy and paste that path. Or, to navigate there, secondary-click on MuseScore.app and choose "Show Package Contents."

Re: physical location...
Your *old* templates are located in the MuseScore 1 templates folder referenced by ZackTheCardshark's link. You do not have to get to them 'from within the old version'. They are normal MuseScore (.mscz) files stored in the templates folder.

I had some custom templates that I needed access to. But still, when I open 2.2 I don't see an option to create a new score from a template. It appeared as an option in the old version. ???

Sorry for the intrusion.
@NeiltheKVeg, if you open Preferences (both 1.3 and in 2.0.2) you do not see the Templates folder location?

Well now that you've pointed that out to me I do. But they are all greyed out I can't open one from in there. And shouldn't I be able to start a new score from a template from within the app? As I said, that was easy in the previous version

wait wait… I got it… it's a different process than in the old version, instead of choosing the template from the beginning of the setup, you have a step or 2 before you get to the templates . . ok, thanks for the help…..

Yes. The template selection is now combined with the option to choose instruments manually, and they are all presented with thumbnails. Previously, it was kind of crazy to ask if you wanted to sue a template before you even saw what template options existed, which is one reason why this improvement was made.
Also, in older versions, the only way to add youtr own templates was to save them in the application folders themselves, which required administrator prvileges and and is considered very poor design. In the current version, you get your very own Templates folder, right next to your own Scores folder, where you can store your own templates. Also your own Soundfonts and Styles folders.
