I recently downloaded Photograph by Ed Sheeran from your website and opened it in Musescore 2.0. I then changed the acoustic guitar to a violin and changed the key to G major. As I looked at the stave it had F on the violin red, which means it's not in the violins pitch range, but it is. Also I've noticed its playing the whole piece an octave lower than it's written

So you need to change the clef to regular treble, and raise the pitch an octave to bring it up to the violin's range.

In the future, it is better to ask for help on the support forum first ("Help / Ask for Help" from within MuseScore).

Several reasons, but the most important is, the forum is the correct place for that sort of thing. It is where the the most people who are able to help will be looking to offer it, thus allowing you to get answers more quickly. And since there are more people offering the help, it means each person has less work to do.

Also, when people with similar questions in the future go looking to see if someone else has asked the same thing, it is the support forum where they will naturally look, and those discussions are designed to remain available. Whereas the issue tracker discussions are not only harder to find overall, but they become harder still to find once the issue has been closed. That's because the purpose of the issue tracker here is entirely different - it is to help the developers know what bugs need fixing. If something is not a bug that's fixing, we close the issue so it doesn't show up in our lists any more.

So basically, it's just a matter of using the correct tool for the correct job. Using the forum for support questions gets you better answers faster and allows people who want to help to do so more easily. Reserving the issue tracker for actual confirmed bugs allows the developers to focus better on fixing them.
