Dedication Text style
On most of my scores I add a dedication to family, friend or colleague. It would be great to have "dedication" as one of the "add text" options. For my first dedication while using Musescore I used "subtitle" but in Sibelius there is a separate option which automatically places it above the main title with the usual smaller, italicized look. As I'm sure folks are aware, it's such a common occurrence on scores that I'm surprised that it isn't already there...
Which brings me to a few related questions...
1) Is there a way to edit "reference points" or anchor for text styles? For example, is it possible to select a staff or system text and drag it (or its handle) so it becomes attached to a different stave or system?
2) Is it possible right now to create new text styles and assign the reference point e.g. top frame, system, stave, margin, page edge etc? I can think of some other texts that I regularly place in the top frame area which would be useful to have as custom styles with associated ref points e.g. my publishing company in the top right (text not an image), and the choral voicing in the left hand corner. See attached for all the text I regularly use.
Thanks!

1) Not really, but you can cut and paste from one place to another.
2) You can create new text styles (https://musescore.org/en/handbook/text-styles#create-text-style), but they can only be positioned relative to a frame or a measure. You can certainly create text styles for everything shown in that image.
Note that you can also change the style of a piece of text after you create it.
OK, I'm aware of all the different text styles currently along with adding text directly to a frame. I would still argue that a dedicated (!) "dedication" text entry command and associated style are extremely useful given the number of scores which include such text. It could be included in the opening score creation information too so it is generated with the empty score.

Including it by default is an interesting idea, but in the meantime it takes next to no effort to set it up for yourself. Go to the Style menu, choose "Text…", click the "New" button, and you can literally dedicate (!) a dedicated (!!) "Dedication" style. In the attached style sheet, I just set it to be positioned above the Title style, though probably for actual use you'd want to also set the Title style lower down.
To see how it works, download the attached MSS file. Then, in any given score, go up to the Style menu and choose "Load Style…" Navigate to the downloaded file and click OK. Now, right-click on the top vertical frame and choose Add > Text. Type anything and hit [Esc]. Over in the Inspector it will say that the text has the "Frame" style, but click that and scroll down to the "Dedication" style. Click on it. Enjoy the result.

Thanks for the quick help. Thinking about it, I could create a template file by making it read-only and have the title, dedication, publishing logo etc ready to go and then just save a new copy once I've made the modifications. That is until the new sparkling version of Musescore with Add—Text—Dedication ;)

The problem would be that if you want to add something above the title then you probably need the title to be lower down, so it would kind of require a domino rally of changes to be included as a separate option by default.

I see what you are saying. However, I'm used to Sibelius where the title is a certain number of inches lower than the top page edge (I think!) so the dedication would also have a set position by default too. I'd argue that the title should be lower to begin with anyway...at least for compositions without a separate title page (when I look at Barenreiter scores that are bound with a separate title page, I think default Musescore looks great!). See the attached examples of music without title page...Choral 2.jpg is the kind of thing I produce on a regular basis whether responses, canticle settings or anthems. There is a healthy title space which is pleasing to the eye.
I suppose, as I mentioned before, it makes sense for me to create a template then save a new copy given the number of changes I make when I start a new score. I'm probably in the minority of people attempting to emulate the look of traditional choral octavo scores! The good thing is that this is all possible with Musescore! Feedback so far about the look of my scores has been excellent.

Thanks. I just now used your instructions to create my own Dedication style. Loading yours messed up my formatting - I suspect a conflict between US Letter and A4 as page sizes.
