Midi Input
How do I get the system to recognize MIDI input from my keyboard?
I ran MIDI to USB cables from keyboard to my PC, but cannot get your software to record the keyboard input. I have the MIDI icon on.

Did you make sure the keyboard is connected and switched on before starting MuseScore?

I can't input from my keyboard either. I have followed instructions about launching MS after connecting keyboard. In preferences: MIDI is enabled; I/O tab - nothing listed under MIDI input. Any suggestions?

You need to change the sound server in Preferences > I/O. Try all of them. On Linux you need to use PortAudio (or ALSA or Jack if you have them installed). PulseAudio probably won't work for MIDI.
