Does a musical production have to be two to two and a half hours long?
I'm writing what could be considered a musical but it only has four cast members total and the songs are around two to three minutes long. It doesn't really require much stage crew and I plan it to be around 65 to 90 minutes in length.

I don't think there are any rules in art. Write it the way you want. ;-)
Apparently les Mis was nearly five hours long initially but they cut it down to just under three. Billy Elliot is about three hours dead and Stomp is only one-an-a-half plus interval. For a small-cast production I would assume that you aren't charging as much for tickets for the performance as the big city shows so I would think that people will not feel cheated by a 90-minute show and would value quality over quantity.
