For the contrappunto it doesn't seem to me.

Thanks mike320.
I've downloaded it. Are there any instructions on how to use it?
Thanks,

I've never used it. I didn't even realize it's in Portuguese. The link on the download page for the instructions links to https://github.com/rogerioConstante/Contraponto which is in Portuguese. Nearly any translation website should be able to handle this.

OK, I've found some explanation at that pointer. Thanks,

I think this is what you are looking for in English. I was bored one day so I translated it. Let me know if this is not what you are looking for.
UPDATE: don't know if you need the qmlc file also but here it is. Oddly, the forum allows uploads of qml but not qmlc, so you will have to get rid of the pdf extension and change the "-" to a "."

the qmlc is created on the fly by MuseScore when running a qml, no need to distribute

Thanks odelphi231 , but most probably you translated it when only MuS v.2 was around.
MuS v.3 doesn't seem to recognise it.
In fact the pointer to the Portuguese one carries two links, each one for a specific MuS version.
I don't have any knowledge of how to handle QML files, but if by any chance you wrote down the process you followed and you wouldn't mind forwarding it to me, then I might be able to do the translation of the new version myself.
Thanks,

It is a MuseScore 3 plugin
The problem is that isn't a UTF8 format any longer
Try the attached

Thanks Jojo, but my MuS 3 doesn't seem to be able to see it either.

Oops, true. The Plugin Edit now loads it, but on running it emits error messages
There a comma too much in line 1416 (easy to solve) and a mismatch in curly braces (not sure where exactly)

..the original one in Portuguese has got 5283 lines of code and the new one only 3319 !!

No, the number of lines hasn't change (by much, there's the odd empty line that was different)
But don't compare apples with peaches, harmonia with contrapunto, both from the same author, @odelphi231 translated and attached the former (and I've looked that one only too)

I can see it's "C" type of language.
I wanted to compare the two to find out where the code differences are and fix the errors.
The fact is that the original in Portuguese is 270558 bytes long and the new one in English is 134313.
Obviously there is something massively missing in the new one...

I've tried to eliminate as many differences as I could, yet I don't spot the brace mismatch.
Try comparing the attached ones
The sizes are of course different, as the translated texts have a diffent lenght, but by far not as much apart as you claim

Unfortunately the one converted is not last version which has a more elaborate implementation vis-a-vis of the "contrappunto", as the attached picture shows.

Seems @odelphi231 translated the wrong plugin?

Yes, after posting I realized I translated a different plugin. The "Harmony" plugin is a cool plugin to have also.
I don't know why it doesn't wanna work for you. Before attaching to the comment, I tested it and it works fine for me in V3.5. Let me translate the counterpoint plugin. It will take me about 2 hours.

You deleted one } and added one , apparently... and also renamed one function. And screwed up the file format, it wasn't UTF8 anymore
Please change nothing (!) but the texts, so that a diff clearly identifies what needs to change, makes if far easier to spot the mistakes if and when they happen. It took me the better part of an hour to eliminate all the formatting differences to not miss the trees (those few bugs) in the forest (of unrelated changes)
Best would be to 'instrument' the qml with
qsTr("string")
calls and then use QtLinguist to extract and translate. Check e.g. the Batch Export plugin. That way more translations can get added quite easily and don't require different plugins, one per language, but just one plugin and several translations, which would even automatically get picked along with MuseScore's language settingIn reply to You deleted one } and added… by Jojo-Schmitz
Sure. I am not changing nothing but the texts. Still don't know why it wasn't working even with the missing "}" because it worked for me. Maybe attaching it in the comment did sump'tn??
Would QtLinguist translate it right? Or would it translate it like google, which is a literal translation not a natural translation.

No, QtLinguist does not translate at all, it just is the infrastructure for translations, extracting the strings (using
lupdate
), having you translating them in a GUI and then building a .qm file (usinglrelease
) that contains the translations in a machine readable form you can then distribute along with the .qmlIn reply to No, QtLinguist does not… by Jojo-Schmitz
OK. That is cool. I will have to look into that.

I posted the English translation of the Counterpoint analyzer to the plugin section. Please let me know if you find any errors. Since it is a translation, there are several words that translate to 2 or more words in English. Since I am not a counterpoint expert, there is a possibility I am using the wrong word out of context with the original meaning. Let me know if you come across any out of context words.
