So this looks like an issue with the Bravura Musical (Text) Font
sff dynamic has the f's too far apart when using Brauvra
Confirmed, seems to only be in the palette, not when added to the score - unless you switch to Bravura as your score font. So the issue presumably has to do with the kerning in Bravura Text and/or how the libraries we use interpret it.
MuseScore doesn't use multi lettered glyphs like mp, it uses an m and a p and puts them together. That's the main reason Marc questions if it's a Bravura bug rather than a MuseScore bug.
I have Bravura as my default score font. If you take a "sffz" and you delete the "z," the two condensed "f"s then expand automatically to create the unwanted gap. Same problem if you add an "f" to "sf." Perhaps that can tell us if it's a font issue or an import interpretation problem?
f+f is handled differently than ff. Try changing to another font and add an ff from the master palette and f+f and you will still see a difference. The f+f method looks more like what I see in most scores.
I think this happens:
f+f is kerned to not intersect. This puts them farther apart.
However, the ff symbol is designed to put the f's closer. This avoids the automatic kerning as it is a single symbol.
I don't doubt there is a problem with the way that MuseScore draws the sff in bravura. MuseScore draws ff just fine and uses the same two glyphs for the fs. This bug report is valid.

I emailed Mr. Spreadbury about it so it gets fixed in the next version of Bravura.
Great, but do we know for sure the problem really is in the font itself and not somehow connected to what we are doing with it?
