No Sound (from playback or cursor) and Popping Noises in Musescore 3.5.2.3
In the past few days, I've encountered an issue. Even if I restart MuseScore several times, neither clicking with the cursor nor starting playback will produce sound (the bar moves over the notes, though). Upon startup of Musescore, I hear a popping noise, sort of like the sound a microphone makes in a powered speaker when you plug it in, and this occurs each time I use the "Reset Audio and MIDI Devices" function. Other than reinstalling, which is a pain, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Try from the help menu to install/uninstall MDL extension and restarting MuseScore.
Same problem; no audio output. I've tried all of the FAQ suggestions. I tried to go back to 3.5.1 and even 3.5 until 3.5.2 gets sorted out, but the download package I get is still 3.5.2. I'm kind of dead in the water without the audio capability.

If you are using Bluetooth see: https://musescore.org/en/node/307956
Solved this by turning the BlueThooth off, removing the association with the headphones, turning the BT back on and redoing the association with the headphones themselves.

Not using Bluetooth. Is there a way to go back to an earlier version? Previous versions worked fine

Sure, all old versions are still available, see https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/releases

You can try an older version, but it's more likely this is being triggered by some other change on your system, like an audio device driver update. Did you say what OS or what settings you see in Edit / Preferences / I/O?

I'm on Windows 10 64 bit. In Edit / Preferences / I/O I'm showing the correct output device (my speakers). What else might I be looking for?
Thank you for helping out.
Cheers! Bruce
So, I downloaded 3.5.2 onto my laptop, and the playback works fine. So it appears to be something with my desktop.
