Combining groups of notes

I have been using Musescore for about five months and to a great extent, I have been able to find my way around the things that I need but in run into something I cannot find in the documentation and I'd appreciate some help.

The score in question is 3/4 and the way the measure is rendered in the original score is shown in the Grouped image; the same measure rendered in Musicscore is shown in the Grouped2 image. I don't think it makes a difference musically but the aesthetics are pleasant in the original. Can it be be done in Musicscore and how? I thought about tuplets but that is just a workaround.
