MuseScore 3.6.2 Release
Today we are pleased to announce a patch update, MuseScore 3.6.2. It addresses a few major regressions introduced in MuseScore 3.6.1.
A few major fixes
- Fixed an accessibility issue with the score migration dialog
- Fixed a crash related to QtWebEngineProcess after update
- Fixed an issue with focus of dockable windows when visibility is toggled
- Fixed a crash during the opening of a score with a missing section break
- Fixed an issue when parts inherit non-default style from score
- Fixed a crash when changing time signature at the beginning of a corrupted measure

Meanwhile either manually install 3.6.2 or use the PortableApp

Wow, MuseScore 3.6.2 is so great, I love it!
But now, it has MuseScore 4.1.1, much better than MuseScore 3.6.2!
will there be a newer version say 3.63 anytime soon. We are now in 2024

I find MuseScore 3 so much more easier to use than Musescore 4 which doesn't really have the same features as 3 does

It has many more features, often designed to make the program easier to use. But it’s true a handful of things haven’t yet made the transition. We’re happy to help you both take advantage of the amazing new features and find workarounds for what you need. Just start a new thread and explain in more detail what you are having trouble with.!
This version is really solid, im aware that v4 is good too, i´ve tryed it several times but still i dont feel to make the transition yet, maybe ill wait to some other updates and i will try it again, but right now im still using 3.6.2.
Last time I check v4 was still having problems with reproduce the music when you use many instruents like an orchestra.
Still. Thank you guys for make such a good program. ill be waiting for more updates!!

The nice thing about MuseScore is that you can run both v3 and v4 on a (in my case, laptop) computer. Files created in v3 can be opened in v4--but not the other way around; and once you open a v3 file in v4 and make and save changes in v4, the file will no longer open in v3. To protect against this, I will usually make copies of file, labeling them "score3.mzcz " and "score4.mzcz", to use in the different versions.
There are layout issues in v4 which have never been addressed, and as a result, some carefully laid out scores will not (at this time) display correctly in v4. And I had become so comfortable with v3 that often I still use it for basic note entry, even if I plan to clean the score up later in v4.
I have yet to download or experiment with jojo's v3.7.

Not sure what layout issues you mean - MU4 should be vastly superior in layout compared to MU3. But of course, that means scores that had customized to work around the many MU3 deficiencies won't necessarily still look correct in MU4. Some of those adjustments are reset automatically as the defaults are so much better than even what most people could have obtained with hours of manual adjustment, but some adjustments might need to be revisited individually.
As for note input, that of course is identical, so no need to resort to MU3 for that, but also, it's harmless enough.

Hi Marc!
In several of my scores, I use layout which includes systems (not the first) which begin with a horizontal frame (used as an indent), and then the instrument labels (or in my case, usually voice part labels). I created an issue tracker for this; can't find it, but it essentially the same as https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/16530. And so far as I can tell, has not been resolved.
I'll attach one such score.
"As for note input, that of course is identical, so no need to resort to MU3 for that" Of course you're right--the only real difference being the entering of accidentals, and, frankly, v4's (-,+, =) makes more sense--I just haven't trained my fingers yet.

I guess that's a difference, but a) this seems like a pretty esoteric use case, and it's not especially obvious that one behavior is right and the other wrong in general (although clearly the older behavior is preference for this particualr score). In any case, wouldn't the better solution - in either version - be to use section breaks, so the indent happens automatically? If these don't represent new sections, what is the point of the indent?
On the other hand, the layout overall is very clearly vastly improved in MU4, in that the note spacing is much more correct among many other things. But sure, for scores you''ve already hand-tweaked things to achieve a very specific layout in MU3, it often makes sense to just keep using MU3 for those scores specifically rather than re-tweak to optimize for MU4.
As for the very small difference in default shortcuts, you can of course just customize those if you don't feel like taking advantage of the new more complete / more efficient system.

Actually the most recent versions of MuseScore Evolution 3.7 can open MS4 scores.
However, please note:
• MS 3.7 will post can alert saying "Cannot read file" ... but just click the "Ignore" button.
• New features in MS4 are discarded, but I've never had an issue with notation, text, lyrics ...
• Upon a certain MacOS 3.7 revision a major audio glitch appeared such that no audio devices are selectable, and therefore there's zero audio output. [Major bummer]
