Unable to mute my pianos sound through my computer
Hello,
I need help. I have my Yamaha electric keyboard hooked up to my computer and no matter what setting I change I cannot make it NOT play sound through my computer speakers when I hit a note. Can someone please tell me how to stop this?

I assume it is MuseScore doing the playback? If you don't want it to listen to the MIDI input, turn off the MIDI icon on the main toolbar.

I have the piano hooked up to my computer via USB. No matter what settings I adjust I will get sound out of both my piano and the computer speakers when I hit a note. I still want to see it light up on the musescore piano as Im still leaning how to play but i dont want to hear it from both locations.

The simple answer to your question is: "Unplug the Yamaha's cable from the computer. Problem solved."
So, more info. should be provided by you

In what capacity do you wish to use your Yamaha keyboard?
Is the connection via USB cable, or (old style) MIDI cable?
Any built-in Yamaha keyboard settings like "Keyboard Out ON/OFF" or "Local ON/OFF"?
Have you tried using MuseScore's available settings? If yes, which ones exactly?

I have it connect via USB cable. I would like to keep it plugged in and allow me to still see what keys I am hitting on the keyboard and even dictate but just not play through the computer speakers.
I attempted to turn off the playback but that just results in musescore doing nothing when i hit a key.

Do you have a volume control on your computer audio output? If so, does turning it down to minimum level do the trick? If not, does your computer have a headphone socket? If so, plugging in headphones (but not wearing them) or better still just plugging in a jack plug not connected to anything would normally cut out the speakers. If that doesn't work, can you disconnect your computer speakers or cover them with a pillow?

I want to be able to hit play in Musescore and play along as well but I can't do so currently because the notes keep playing through the speaker.

Another possibility: open the mixer and slide the main volume control right to the bottom, or mute everything.

Just mute the computer speaker when you don't want to here it, unmute when you do.
