Open inspector
I would like very much to be able to open the inspector from the context menu that opens when you right click an object. This would be much more convenient than having to search for it in the main menu.

I find it convenient to keep frequently used tabs open (F6, F8, F9)
Indeed, it's easiest by far to just leave the Inspector up all the time - that is in fact one its great advantage over the older UI style of "modal" dialogs being needed for everything. But, if you do prefer opening and closing dialogs, just use the shortcut - F8. Or define your own if you prefer a different one - Edit / Preferences / Shortcuts.

Leaving it open all the time uses up too much screen space. F8 requires a shift from mouse to keyboard. Both are unpleasant. How about giving me the ability to edit/modify the context menu? Others may find other uses for that.

F8 only requires a shift from mouse if you are using the mouse much to begin with, which most people concerned with efficiency are not :-). Anyhow, no reason in the future yet another way to open the Inspector couldn’t be added, so feel free to file a Suggestion to the issue tracker for that. But do know, there is definitely a bias against biting commands in right click menus where most people will never discover them, so if another r method of toggling the Inspector is developed, it’s more like to be a visible button.

Marc - I am not familiar with the ‘issue tracker’. This thread is in Feature Request. Isn’t this where it belongs?

Once agreed on that something really is a bug, or is a valid feature request, these should go into the issue tracker, feature requests as Suggestions.

Thanks for #318949: New way to open the inspector
