Musescore 3.6.2 doesn't work (most of the time) with Linux 20.04
3.6.2 is sluggish, slow, and downright not operative. A very few of my pre-existing scores work without stalling or simply just sitting there, regardless of commands. I'm extremely lucky that I didn't delete my previous version (a 3.0 ). Too bad, because the new features in 3.6.2 are great.

Can you explain in more detail what you mean? Which Linux distribution, and what in particular is working slowly for you? Best to attach your score and give precise steps to reproduce the problem.

Yes, sorry. Ubuntu 20.04
When I try to open a file, it takes a long time to open, and then everything goes slowly. Trying to reposition a note, or just move the score, or go to a measure. In short, just about everything is slow. When inputting a number into the "find" feature, the number takes a long time to appear, and then only one digit.

Here it seems to respond promptly

Could it be a memory/performance issue with the pc?
Was it a file generated with a previous version (3.02) happens from scratch?

It might be. I'll look into it. Funnily enough, this doesn't happen with everything. If something is very recent, it seems to work better.

Further: I think the file I sent was done longer ago than my 3.0.5

Does this happen with the (reworked) attachment as well?

Yes.

Could be a soundfont issue as mentioned - anything other than MuseScore_General.s3 showing in View / Synthesizer on the Fluid or Zerberus tabs?
Could also be a conflict with your audio drivers, try other settings in Edit / Preferences / I/O.

Soundfonts. They seem to work with things, but who knows? I'll try without my other soundfonts. Thanks for tip on audio drivers.

A new development. I'm not sure what I did, but I'll try to remember. I did some messing about in 3.0.5 with sound fonts, I/O etc. and nothing played. I hit the set to default button. Still no sound. Then I closed it, and when I re-opened, it asked me questions as if it were new and I hadn't set preferences. Everything worked well then in 3.0.5. So, I tried opening 3.6.2 to see what might have happened, and everything worked well. I tried three scores, and all went well. You might be able to figure this out, but I can't.

No good. Files take up to 30 seconds to load, and anything I try to do takes upwards of 15-20 seconds. I've used Musescore for many years now, problem-free. I wish this were true for this excellent new version.
Near-instantaneous opening for me. No problems on moving the score, changing notes etc.

Quad-core Xeon, 16Gb RAM - but I've got other stuff running in three browsers simultaneously and a large spreadsheet open and HTOP reports only 6Gb RAM in use.
Maybe you have inadvertenyl loaded a large sound font, drumline or something else that I don't have loaded on my system.
