Faster way to make Measures invisible
I feel like the process of going through the measure properties of each measure i want to make invisible is just too fiddly.
If you could just select the measures you want to make invisible and press a Shortcut would speed up my Workflow sooooo much.
Thank you

Currently, the
V
keyboard shortcut toggles the visibility of the elements in the selected measure rather than the visibility of the measure itself. This is not what I would have expected.I think a proper approach to solving this would involve allowing the properties of the selected measure(s) to be viewed and edited directly in the Inspector. But I suspect that this is much easier said than done.

yeah exactly
Can you explain your actual goal here? Like, by attaching a sample score and explaining what the invisible measure are supposed to represent. Making individual measures invisible should almost never be necessary given the existence of Hide empty staves in Format / Style / Score, and the Cutaway option in Staff Properties. Also the existence of horizontal frames.

Oh wow I didn't know about the cutaway feature.
Silly me! Is it new?
Thank you for your help

It's been there since 3.0 a little over a year ago.

Hello,
i would need the same. Actually, possibility to insert an 'only count-in' bar would be the best, these between the lines of a practice sheet, each line a new practice. As an alternative, I tried the upper options with no success. Here's the sample I tried on: https://musescore.com/user/9029546/scores/6726473/s/Qg40zJ
Can I make the empty measure invisble?
Thank you!

The score you attached a link to is private so we can't see it. But much simpler to just attach it here.
As it is, though, probably more important would be to see a picture of what you want it to look like - I am not understanding from your description, and it seems you are saying the score you tried uploading doesn't get it right either.
I can guess maybe you mean something like this:
That's three staves, one set to cutaway, and also using hide empty staves. No need to make any measures invisible one by one.

Although FWIW, I personally wouldn't have used invisible or cutaway anything for that, that used a horizontal frame to make that short system.

Hi. I have a similar problem but I think it's a little different. I'm working on a big-band chart. For a count in (1 - 2 - 1-2-3-4) I created a separate wood- block staff. I inserted two measures at the beginning of the chart and the only thing that occurs in those two measures is the wood-block count. I can make the wood-block staff invisible, but those first two measures still appear in all the other instrument staves. Is it possible to hide just those two measures for all instruments? I don't think cutaway will do this. Thanks.

I guess the playback count in is so the individual players can practice their parts? Frankly, it it would be easiest to just make a second copy of the score with the two measure present normally and use that for the practice, but print from a copy without them. Or, I supposed, put them on a separate page before the title frame, and simply ignore that page when printing. or add the counting separately in an audio editor.
Eventually I expect MuseScore will add back the native count-in feature, and hopefully make it customizable as well.

Marc thanks for the quick response. Yes, the count is so players can practice. But we're also going to record a CD, by sections. (We tried recording the whole band together but the results, which are ok, are not good enough for a CD.). So whichever section is recording is going to have to hear the count. Yes, I will make a second copy - that's what I was planning to do but I thought I'd ask if there were a simpler way. Thanks again!

Thank you. It's public now. I would like to have a (empty) measure while playback, at the beginning of each line but not showing in the score. To make measure1 of line2 invisible. So when practicing with the video, students have a count'in measure for each line. Just wondered if this is possible.

This is exactly what the cutaway option does - did you try it?

Yes! I got it now! Thank you! I updated the score. As a last inquiry, is there a way to align visible parts with the first line? thx so much for all the great job!
PS- as a nice experience, I exported a video score and added my own music mix in Reaper. Just to show things I managed to do by myself :) Here, score part starting at 1 min

I'm not sure what you mean by align - are you saying you have two lines meant to be played at the same time? In that case, you shouldn't have one staff but instead two. Then they would be aligned automatically. If they aren't meant to be played at the same time, aligning would be non-standard and usually counterproductive.

Just single lines. If you check the updated score, you see, i'd like to align the visible line starting measures to the first line...

OK, I'm not sure I understand why, but you could add a horizontal frame in that case, to get the first visible notes to align. Things still won't align after that, nor should they, because the rhythms are different. But if you want to force that, you could add invisible eighths notes in voice 2 to all measures to force direct proportional spacing rather than standard "logarithmic" spacing.

Unless he's talking about the first system indent, which can be turned off in score style settings

Doesn't seem to be on for that score anyhow. Although indeed, turning it on and finding the right size - or just adding an invisible measure because, why not? - would be another potential solution depending on the exact desired results.
