How to convert a solo piano score into violin?

Hello Forum,
I find it impossible to produce a score for solo violin. No matter what I do, a single stave always comes out as piano. Would MUCH appreciate guidance on this.

Did you select violin when you create your score with File / New? If not, then do so next time. meanwhile, if you've already created a score that you didn't select violin for, you can change it by right-clicking the staff, Staff/Part Properties, and then Change Instrument.

Also note if you've tried installing a non-standard soundfont, you won't get violin sound unless you tell MuseScore how to find it, in the Mixer. But for the default soundfont, or any GM-compatible soundfont, everything should work automatically.
