Is it possible to change all the notes duration?
- I started to write a composition using eight notes, but then I realized that I want to change my time signature, maybe the tempo, and use half notes instead, to make them more readable.
Another example:
I started to write a music and used lots of triplets. Now I realized that it is much better to write eigth notes and change to time signature from 2/4 to 6/8.
As a composer, I would like to select all my notes and change their duration in a proportional way. For instance eight notes to triplets or vice-versa. I don't want to write everything again. Is that possible?
- Also, I could not use the "double duration" or paste double duration for more than one note, which makes the feature quite useless. The effort of paste a single note with different duration is the same as writing that note with the intended duration from scratch. Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance,
Joao Rodrigues

You can use 'paste double duration' on more than one note. Just copy a range first, not just a single note

Yes, I could do it now. Don't know why it was not working before. Anyway, I still cannot paste triplets as eight notes.
I seems to me such a basic thing that one might want to do as a composer. (to try different note durations)....

You certainly can, early on, just change a note's duration directly or re-enter the note with the new duration. It's only after you've more or less completed note input - long after one would normally be making those sorts of choices - where it's currently impossible. I don't doubt this limitation will be removed eventually, however.

Thanks for lhe response. I think we have talked about this some time ago, although I could not find the conversation. This is a problem I find recurrent, often with my students as well, because they might write a piece in a wrong time signature and when I correct it they will have to rewrite all over again in such cases!
Thanks

We already a similar discussion here.
It seems to be difficult feature for MuseScore.
Marc came with an intersting proposition, that should be fine tuned.

Thank you, it indeed has lots of discussion, maybe I can find a workaround there.

That's actually quite different. That discussion was about manually changing a rhythm here or there. The discussion here is about automatically changing the rhythm for the entire piece, to convert from 4/4 to 6/8 or whatever. This problem is much simpler to solve in principle, as there really isn't any debate at all about how it should work. It's just a little tricky to implement the conversion to and from triplets.

It would be, nevertheless, be a really interesting feature !

Sounds like great news :)
