All I have for you is a pseudo-workaround. You can write the pinch harmonics normally ( with P.H. and the specific notehead) but then, to get the right pitch in the feedback, you have to:
-open the inspector with F8
- select the notes you wrote while the inspector is open and scroll down in the inspector window until you find the play tickbox. Untick it.
-Now that what you notate has been mutated, used another voice to write in the actual heard pitch.
-Then hide the second voice by using the V shortcut

After using this method, you have the proper notation and proper pitch but the tone is still the one you'd get picking normally and I don't know how to fix it.

I found something better. You can write the score normally but on the notes with pinched harmonics, you add a text, right click it, go to text properties, select the voice the pinched harmonic is in, then open the canal drop down menu and select harmonics. Finally click OK and it should work properly and give you both the right pitch and tone.

One issue that might occur is the drop down menu only having the "clean" setting. To solve that, go to instruments uskng the I button and make sure the instrument is "electric guitar" or "electric guitar (tab)" and not "electric guitar (treble clef)" because this one only has one option.

Sorry for the wrong information I gave you earlier. I hope this helps.

I am a bit unsure what was missed but I'll try to detail it fully. (I also made a video without commentary where I go through the whole process. My musescore isn't in english but nothing should have been moved)
-Put the note in the score.
-Look to the top of your screen. Mine is in a different language but normally you should have from right to left something like "Files; Edits; Appearance; Add; etc.". Left click on add.
-A menu with 7 options should appear. Left click on the 6th one called "Text".
-Another menu now appears including multiple text options separated into 3 groups by lines. Left click the second option in the second group. It should be called "Staff text" and have the shortcut "Ctrl+T" written to the right of it.
-Now you may write "Pinched harmonic" or whatever you want the musician to see on the score and you should see it be written above the note you put earlier (it is necessary that text is written in this step. If you don't need the musician to see anything, you can go into the Appearance menu later and hide the text)
-Once it is done, left click wherever to indicate the program you have finished to write your text.
-Here is where I think your issue happened. Right click the text you wrote.
-A menu called "Staff text" should appear with options separated into 4 groups by lines. In the second group, left click the second option called "Staff text properties" (if it isn't there, maybe check if you are on a recent enough version of musescore?)
-Now appears the staff text properties menu which should be on the "channel changes" submenu which has 4 lines with each containing a box for all the 4 voices and a drop down menu for the canal normally displaying "open".
-Choose a line (doesn't matter which) and left click on the voice of the note you want to use pinched harmonics for.
-On the same line, left click on the dropdown menu. 5 options should appear, the first of which is "harmonics". Left click it.
-Click OK on the bottom right of the menu

And now the note should be played with pinched harmonics. Note that the instrument will be playing pinched harmonics for every note from this point until you add another staff text to tell it to play using the "open" canal again.
If this more detailed version still doesn't work, feel free to message me again but please be as precise as possible so I don't have any doubts as to what the issue is.

you have brought me further then I got...I see where it is going...in the version I have left click on open only 3 options instead of 5....I think that I may have to upgrade the musescore...I will do that and then let you know how I make out...but everything is crystal clear..and can follow it very well

I just downloaded muscore 3.6.2.548020600...And I followed the instruction you mailed to me...got down to the staff text properties ...selected a voice...clicked on open...there is still just three option open, mute and jazz...
I know you have been very understanding and walked me through my problems....
but now I'm at a loss...should I get ahold of the people that run the site??

everyone has been so helpful...I wanted to start writing my music...as I am having trouble with the tendons in my hand..and I ending up with trigger fingers....plus a touch of arthritis ...I've been playing since 15 yrs old to 68 yrs old...the old saying those who can't do...teach...or in this case write....

by the way since you know a lot about this stuff...is there anywhere in musescore where two parties get together to collaborate on a piece of music
