Missing Ukulele Chord Diagram

• Nov 2, 2021 - 04:44

Okay, I'm back with another newbie question. I added the "Ukulele Fretboard Diagrams" palette so that I would be able to insert chord diagrams (rather than just chord names) into the scores.

For now, I'm learning MuseScore and getting good practice by just entering existing scores. The first score went really well. When I got to the second score, though....

I added the chord diagram for the first chord, A, but when I got to the second chord, it was F#m.

I cannot find an F#m diagram anywhere in the palette. (Maybe it is there, in which case I'll be quite embarrassed.) How can I get an F#m chord diagram? Is there a a way to create a new one in the palette, or is there a more complete ukulele diagrams palette that I can import?

Thanks!

Thank you both for your replies. cadiz1, it appears that I already had the latest palette (from two different sources).

I've been reading through the documentation to try to figure out how to do this, and nothing seems to work.

The manual says: "When these standard chords are not enough, they can be used as a starting point for creating modified chord diagrams, via the Inspector. This technique enables the use of chord extensions, alterations, different voicings, and different positions, versus the 21 standard diagrams. Alternatively, users may prefer to begin with a blank diagram and create their chords "freehand.""

I have the following questions about this:

  1. If I create a modified diagram based on an existing one in the palette, does this modify the existing palette diagram, or does it create a new one that I can add to the palette?

  2. After I modify a diagram, how do I save it?

  3. Once I've saved it, how do I add it to the palette?

  4. How to I "begin with a blank diagram"? To bring up the diagram editor in the Inspector, it seems that I have to click on a pre-existing one. As far as I know, I don't have a pre-existing blank diagram; how do I get one?

As far as the tontonremy.com link, it seems that this is just a chord lookup page. How do I get a diagram from here into my palette?

  1. A fretboard diagram modified in the Inspector creates a new one that can be added to the palette.
  2. & 3. A modified diagram must be added to the score. Press and hold Ctrl+Shift (Mac: Cmd+Shift), then drag the fretboard diagram from the score onto a palette. This saves it for future use.
  3. If you don't have a blank grid in your palette, then create one as follows: Add any chord from the Fretboard Diagrams palette, select it, and use the "Clear" button to remove all the dots.

You create it in the Inspector (then save it to a palette).
