Anyone out there having the same problem as me. This morning after installing Mac Monterey Musescore won't open. Is there a connection or...?
Upstart page load okay. But then... the computer stall

After installing Monterey, Musescore will not load but hangs on the 'Initializing sequencer and audio driver...' I suggest you not upgrade to Monterey yet. I hope there is a fix soon

Glad I saw this. I usually keep my Mac up to date, but will likely not update to Montgomery until there’s a Musescore update. Let us know if you find the root of the problem.

The following was posted on the Apple Support Communities site:
"According to the Roaring Apps site, no version (1, 2, or 3) of this app is known to work beyond macOS Big Sur on Intel-equipped Macs." Have you tested it on an Intel based Mac running Monterey? Thanks.

I received the following after posing this question on the Apple Users Group site: Does anyone know if Musescore 3.6.2.5 will run on M1 based Macs running Monterey?
Yes, I can confirm that Musescore works with my M1 Mac Mini and M1 MacBook Air.
Yes, I am running Monterey, currently 12.0.1

To make an epic note to this story. You don't need to read the following. I just need to write it down, to get it out. I ended up erasing everything and re-install Catalina. To downgrade a Mac is a time consuming process. Time-machine back-up or not. I keep forgetting how long time it takes, to make a complete recovery of a worksome musicians computer. Was it... Two days? The friendly Mac-supporter was focused on my personal files. And yes, they are backed up on my external harddrive. What I keep forgetting, is that I have to re-install drivers to my old Fireface800 audiointerface and find midi-drivers for my Yamaha S70XS keyboard. The mac-supporter probably knows that Logic Pro and Final Cut takes some hours to re-install from AppleStore. But he does not know, that I need Ableton, Reason, Audacity, OpenOffice, Spotify, Teams, Zoom. And I keep forgetting that the exact same 1TB in the cloud and on my external harddrive acts as if they had never seen each other before. I've done it before. Stupid me. I don't really know if it was worth it. Long story short. I should have waited with the Monterey system update. On a happy note: Fortunately my browser remembers all my bookmarks.

Does anyone have any feedback or more insights on this etc, how to reproduce, etc.? Reinstalling with an older version of macOS is not for the faint of heart or practical for many users. There must be a proper workaround (and hopefully a fix). There are 3 users on this thread (DIMM, Paulmjz, martingerup) who seems to have or have had this issue , which seems to be a relatively small number, especially with many macOS users on Dischord, this forum, Apple forums and 3rd party sites being able to run MuseScore on Monterey just fine.

I have created #327408: MuseScore 3.6.2 on macOS 12 Monterey startup hang on 'Initializing sequencer and audio driver...' to track this.

Rosetta 2 is the app/layer that allows Intel-native binaries to run on Apple silicon. Running native Intel apps (like MuseScore) on Intel Macs does not need this layer, e.g. this would not be the reason for MuseScore not starting on you specific instance of Monterey/Intel. I have seen in the past that a clean install of the OS would resolve an issue like this, since there is one component which MuseScore on Monterey does not seem to like.
