How to disable receiving private messages and group discussion notifications

Hello, in my profile settings, under Notifications, I have disabled all website notifications for all forms of notifications, however I continue to receive many notifications of private messages from strangers and comments on random discussions happening in the forums.

Please let me know if there is another way to disable all these notifications, or to mass unsubscribe to all discussions that I seem to have been automatically subscribed to.
