Note entry doubling on both piano staves
This file was created from a template I've used over 2 dozen times without this issue.
When I enter a note on one of the piano staves, it is immediately copied - down to the pitch - on the other staff. Anything I do on one is repeated on the other. This is a new issue; what is going wrong?

You somehow managed to link the 2 piano staves

Without it showing up in the instrument dialog? And having done nothing towards that end on my part?

It is showing in the Instruments dialog
They are definitely linked, and I see the checkes in the "Linked" box for both staves on my system as well as in your screenshot. So, delete the bottom staff, then add it as a regular staff this time.

I use the Dark Mode... and that doesn't look like a column. Maybe a "Feature Request" might be to enhance the Dark Mode so that things are still legible?

I'm on Windows, but try to adjust the size of your 'Instruments' dialog window to expose missing details.
Compare:
Your dark mode above shows no 'Staves' column, only the word 'Bass'. Also, individual column widths are adjustable within that dialog window. N.B.: "Visible Clef" and "Linked Staff type" are actually 4 separate columns.
