Convert Rehearsal Marks (Letters) to numbers
I have a finished score and was using rehearsal marks (alphabet) to mark different sections. Then I decided to change these to bar numbers, for example letter "A" became bar "5". I had already created parts and worked on long time on their correct layout. The problem is that the parts still show the older rehearsal marks and not the numbers. I tried this with different scores and sometimes the new numbering was accepted on the parts but sometimes it wasn´t. Is there a way to copy/paste the numbers into the parts? Otherwise I´ll have to create new parts and spend hours doing the layout again.

There is Tools / Resequence Rehearsal Marks. It won't change letters into numbers, but, you could just lazily change them all to "1" yourself manually (presumably way faster than changing them to the actual numbers) then run the resequence command.
But - changes to rehearsal marks in the score should affect parts. Not sure why they didn't here. Actually the fastest way to fix this would probably be to delete each [rehearsal mark] from the score one by one and re-add. Then they should be added correctly. And actually, if you add them using the palette, it even fills in the measure number for you. So that's what I'd recommend, shouldn't take but a few minutes.

Thanks Marc for the quick reply. I tried deleting parts and generating new ones. The problem with that is that I would then have to do the part layout all over again.

That’s why I suggested deleting and re-adding the rehearsal marks, not the parts :-). But I realize this wasn’t so clear…

Hi Marc,
it´s been a few weeks and I´m still struggling with the rehearsal marks. I should have initially created them using measure numbers and not letters. However being a relative beginner to score writing I chose letters. Later when I wanted to change to measure numbers in the score this wasn´t recognised in the parts I had created. I tried deleting all rehearsal marks in the score but this had no effect on the parts despite being told otherwise. Would it be possible to re-examine the rehearsal marks for future updates so that they behave logically? For example after deleting the letters I entered numbers but then they were numbered "1" "2" "3" "4" etc instead of
corresponding to the actual measure numbers. The only point in my view in using numbers as rehearsal marks is that they correspond to measure numbers. Or at least there should be an option to choose how rehearsal marks behave. Any change to rehearsal marks in the score should immediately override anything in the parts, even if these parts were created before the score was altered. Again I´m still learning how to write scores effectively and will definitely use measure numbers as rehearsal marks in future. I´m just trying to rescue the layout work I´ve already done in the parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The tool to use is found in Tools > 'Resequence Rehearsal Marks'
Looking at the main score it looks like after rehearsal mark 59 you change back to letters, with "D" at measure 67 followed by all letters.
To fix, click on the first rehearsal mark, 25, and use the resequence tool.
For each part, change the "A" rehearsal mark to "25" and use the resequence tool.

Works, but is quite a PITA.
Not sure why rehearsal marks are not synced between score and parts, they rather should be, changing them in the score should change them in the parts and vice versa.

Maybe not too bad when compared to:

True of course

I have one more question concerning using numbers as rehearsal marks: after creating the numbered rehearsal marks the bar numbers at these locations are also visible. This seems to me to be unnecessary and also looks funny. (see attached drum part) Is there an option for turning the bars numbers off when they coincide with rehearsal marks or must they be deleted manually?

There's no such option, you'd need to disable them individually, via measure properties

PITA is better than new layout for me! Thank you!!!
