Dynamics shortcuts don't work MAC
When I follow the advice on this page https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/dynamics and use CMD + SHIFT + F it just adds the note f to the score instead of registering the shortcut to add a forte dynamic.
I checked the shortcut menu in the preferences but these dynamics shortcuts are nowhere to be seen, was this taken out of musecore?
Can someone help me with this?

Those instructions are only for adding the symbols for dynamic markings to text objects, not for adding the actual dynamic to the score.

Not really. Cmd+E will add express text, not dynamics. So, it will kind of sort of look like a dynamic marking, but it won't act like on - not in terms of layout, not in terms of playback.
In order to enter dynamics, you need to use the palette (eg, select one or more notes in score, click the desired palette symbol). You can if you wish edit the text and use those shortcuts to insert the special characters, but unless you are creating custom dya ics, that isn't necessary - just clicking the palette is all you need to do
A future version of MuseScore will hopefully add true shortcuts.
