How to not put a jump under a volta
Attached is my song.
I would like to add a jump at the end of the volta labeled "2" that starts in measure 36. The jump should go to measure 2.
I read that jumps should not go under voltas. I'm not sure how else to do it? I have looked for examples. I see examples with jumps, but no examples of jumps after voltas.

That volta 2 needs to end with an end repat barline, else the vola 4 after it won't work.
Jumps are generaly taken after all simple repeats (repeat barlines and voltas) are processed, so won't in a volta 2 if there is one for 3 and 4.

Okay. got the jump to the beginning to work. Now the repeat on measure 16 is not working the second time through. Could you tell me why?

Play count should be 4, not 3

I made the play count 4 instead of 3, but that did not help.

The repeats that start on measure 34 also don't work correctly the second time through. I made the play count of measure 34 into 4 and it just got skipped.

I have no idea on how to interpret your volta at m34-35 at all.
Try taking me step be step through your intended roadmap, but this is my best educated guess based on what you've written so far (everything from the ? on is just speculation):
1 - 16, 9 - 15, 17 - 35, 28 - 33, 36 - 38, 2 - (?)16, 9 - 15, 17 - 35, 28 - 33, 39 - end
Also note that currently your m38 and m1 are identical, so you could possibly drop m38 and write a D.C. instead?

In which case you just need a simple repeat and simple voltas. No need to change playback counts at all, just replace the D.S. with a "D.S. al Coda" and make sure to check "play repeats" for it. Then add the To Coda in m33 and remove the 4th volta by placing the coda there.
