Chord symbols causing Musescore to crash
I imagine there's already a thread for this, but I couldn't find it. Has anyone figured out how to mitigate the program crashing after adding only a few chord symbols? I tried uninstalling/reinstalling, but the issue still persists. I'm on a 2020 Mac Mini (non M1) with Big Sur.
I've resorted to writing chords with staff text, but it would be nice to input them properly. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for responding. I've included the mscz file for a song I'm working on. It's happened with two scores so far, so I have no reason to think it won't occur again without some sort of solution.
You'll see that the first chord symbol looks right, and then after that, it's just text (using a "b" instead of the "flat" sign, etc). To recreate it the crash, I'd only have to try to add 2 or more chord symbols and then it would crash. (Well, it would just freeze). So if you try to add chords to this, and it doesn't happen to you, then it's probably an incompatibility thing with my OS, but I doubt it.
Everything else is working great. Loving the new version of Musescore so far!

It apparently stems from an XML Import, can you provide the source, that MuusicXML file?

Maybe it is related to #317323: macOS 10.5 accessibility setting “Enable Hover Text” causes crash?

So far I don't find something score specific that looks wrong (Windows 10 here) and I can just enter the Chord Symbols all the way through.
And I know that there are plenty of Mac users that use Chord Symbols as well, so it's not just the OS that's incompatible in itself. But there might be another thing more specific to your system that makes this crash for you.
Or there might be something going amiss with the method you attempt to use to enter the chord symbols; so perhaps you can elaborate on that and provide us with step-by-step instructions on what you're doing exactly to enter them?

wow... thanks so much for your responses, everyone. the xml file is from Logic Pro X. When I open them in Musescore, they seem to work fine.

From what I can see at the moment, the issue seems not related to the score file itself.
If you start a new score from scratch (in MuseScore) and try to enter Chord Symbols, does it also crash for you?

hmmm... when i start to build a score from scratch, it crashes after only adding a few bars of notes. so it's not likely the chord symbol entry. thanks for suggesting i try that. now i'm really flummoxed!

Not really a thread, but a handbook page though. And yes, the handbook is a pure source of knowledge ;-)
