making duration changes for multiple notes of equal value.
Say I have a 4/4 measure, (or several), filled with quarter notes. is there a way to highlight a measure (or more) and change all the quarter notes to eighths or sixteenths? Currently if I highlight a quarter note and the press the number 4, I get an eighth followed by a rest.

Thank you for your help. Maybe the attached file will explain it better. I want to turn measure 1 to look like measure 2. Pasting half duration does not produce my wanted result. :(

So you want to half-and-duplicate each note. There's no built-in function for that, no.
The fastest way I know of is to click on the first note and then repeat the following three keypresses: Q R →

Thank you again. It works. How do you know about this, and where would I even look for this in the manual?

The "Duplicate" command (shortcut "R") is under Copy & Paste, because that is in effect what it is doing.
The "Half duration" command (shortcut "Q") is documented under Note input, although not discussed in any detail there. It might be covered elsewhere too. I definitely cover it in my course under "editing".

Thank you Marc. Is there also a "secret/magic" place that "harbors" an ability to turn each of the quarters into triplets? ... any tuplets? I will check out your course on the "editing"

No, non-tuplet to tuplets or vice versa is not possible, other than manuallly rewrite them

The specific lessons dealing with the type of editing we talking about here - making changes to notes after already entering them - is this one:

But the whole section is full of useful information
