I guess you mean the tempo slider, not the metronome itself? And double-click not to change it in general, but to reset to 100%? Looks like that got missed indeed. I recommend submitting an issue to GutHub as described in the various alpha announcements.
BTW, the alpha is quite outdated by now, for further testing, best to switch to one of the nightly builds. At least until the beta comes out, hopefully in the next week or so.

I don't have it offhand, but the way I'd find it is, first go back to the Announcements forum, then click one of the alpha announcements, then you'll see the info there.

That's the link to the nightly builds, yes, but the issue should really be reported on GitHub as mentioned. The developers aren't necessarily following the old MuseScore 3 (and earlier) issue tracker any more.
