Musescore playback WAY too fast.
From today onwards, all my musescore playbacks are playing WAY too fast even when I have a tempo marker. The files have not changed at all and have worked perfectly all previous times. Playback Tempo is 100%.
Is there a bug that is causing this?

is there a setting that may have altered on my end? I am not aware of any changes at all. I just used my file as per usual and now it's playing back at much faster speeds.

What does the Inspector say about that tempo text? After all it reads "Quarter note = 100 - 200". Inspectore for mea shows "Follow text " and "100,00BPM"

Yes, my Tempo under Follow Text is correctly following the text at 100.00BPM

At the top of the Play Panel, above the position slider, there is a clock. It reads "Time:". When you play the score, does the clock run fast, as in your video?

I have managed to recreate the problem today.
I was playing my chart as per normal and decided to switch my audio output from my computer speakers to my wireless headphones instead.
Immediately after making this change (Edit > Preference I/O), my playback speed went insanely fast (just as I had reported in the original post).
Is this a bug or something?

I just had this issue bite me. I just saved my project as is, with the preferences set to my mixer instead of the speakers, and restarted MuseScore. Fixed it right up.

I had the same problem on an M1 MacBook Air. Later the same issue appeared on an M1 MacBook Pro. Both using MuseScore 3.6.2. I haven't tried to recreate on MS 4 as I am still using 3.6.2. In my case, playback speed is about 10% faster than the given tempo, play panel set to 100%. The issue seems to start randomly, or at least I haven't noticed a particular cause.
I found two workarounds: 1) Restart Audio and MIDI devices in Preferences > I/O; 2) Revert to factory settings using Terminal: /Applications/MuseScore\ 3.app/Contents/MacOS/mscore -F
