Want to restore musescore customizationss after computer crash
So I had a big computer failure and have a new computer now. I have a backup of musescore files from my old computer. I would like to have the musescore program in my new computer be like the program from my old computer. I made a lot of customizations to the palettes.
I did find the .ini file with my customizations on my old computer files. But I can't figure out where to put that file on my new computer. Maybe because I'm in Windows 11 now?
Anyone have any ideas?

It states:
For advanced users, the main preference file is located at:
C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\MuseScore\MuseScore3.ini
(actually %APPDATA%\MuseScore\MuseScore3.ini)
The other preferences (palettes, session, shortcuts, workspaces...) are in:
C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\MuseScore\MuseScore3\ (actually %LOCALAPPDATA%\MuseScore\MuseScore3)

I actually looked at that and it did help me find the ini file from my old computer. However, I don't see an ini file in my new computer. Maybe because my new computer has windows 11.

I can't seem to find the right location on my new computer. I am using musescore 3. I have the configuration file to replace but I can't figure out where to put the file. I can't find a configuration file to replace. I have my system set to show hidden files.

Be sure the files you are looking for do not reside in hidden folders, or whether the files themselves are marked hidden. Tell the OS to show hidden folders/files.

So perhaps I am just not doing it correctly. So I close the musescore program, replace the file, and reopen the program. It opens just like it did when I closed it (not with my customizations) and rewrites the file. So it doesn't seem to work. Perhaps there just isn't a way to do what I want to do.

The INI file is only used for customization to basic settings, not for things like custom palettes. Those are stored in the "workspaces" folder, underneath the folder where MuseScore stores things like autosave files (might be a different folder than the one with the INI, not sure how it's organized on Windows).

My experience: Even if these folders are hidden, you can get the ini files by typing %APPDATA%\MuseScore and for the other settings %LOCALAPPDATA%\MuseScore\MuseScore3 in the address bar of a Windows Explorer.
