"Set as style" + Default soundfonts, existed in musescore 3??

I'm excited about the improvements bought about by Musescore 4 but the removal of these two features immediately jumped out at me and hindered my workflow. "Set as style" was a godsend for saving me the trouble of going to the styles menu, as it let me experiment with an individual element on the page and change all elements to the same look/property within the same screen. I do like the new look compared to the inspector page, far less cluttered and more intuitive, but functionally, the properties screen for my use and workflow has actually gotten much worse, and i haven't really used it as much as i did the inspector panel.

As for default soundfonts, I understand that you can change all the instruments separately but it gets quite tiring repeating the same motion of clicking into a menu, especially since personally i have a bit of repetitive strain in the wrists.

Hope that's something to think about re: development of the new version. Excited for what's to come.

Set as style still exists, it's jusgt an additional click away in the "..." menu. The decision was not made lightly, but the desire is too declutter the interface. We almost made that same decision in 3.0 but ended up not.

As for changing multiple soundfotns, I guess you have a score where you literally want every instrument in that score to use the same non-default soundfont? I have a sense mostly people "settle" for this because it was formerly too hard to set the instruments individually, and you might actually find you don't prefer all the sounds in it over the default. Could be interesting to experiment! But anyhow, it is planned to add more flexibility to the "View / Playback setup" dialog, to allow for more profiles.

Thanks for responding Marc, i do really appreciate the decluttered interface and i think it's all big steps in the right direction. If it's okay could you share a screenshot of where the set as style button is now? I may be stupid but i can't find it within the properties panel.

Regarding soundfonts, in my experience with the styles i write in, i get much better audio feedback from the custom soundfont i used in musescore 2/3 as opposed to to the default. I've approached it with an open mind and given it an honest go, i definitely think there are merits to the default in certain styles but in the primary styles i write in i have not experienced it to be better yet, and it just so happens that when setting the soundfont for say, a 17-25 piece big band, it is quite taxing on my wrists.
I think, in my opinion although i'm probably not part of the majority, there are definitely users like me and Musescore would be better if it allowed for the functionality somewhere, even if it's not in a particularly obvious location.

Definitely agreed that it will be nice when the playback profile customization I mentioned gets implemented.

I'm curious what soundfont you use that you find better across the board for big band. I've tried dozens, and never found one I like better for more than one or two instruments.

Just commenting on this as another user who wants the ability to change the default soundfont, or the ability to bulk change soundfont for all instruments. I'm surprised this doesn't exist.

My use case is re-creating songs using video game sound fonts, such that the whole song sounds like it is playing from the video game console.
