staff linked to more than one staff
The subject line may sound weird - hope I can explain what I'm looking for:
I have four voices in separate staves and know how to implode them into two staves with voices 1 and 2 each (for printout).
I would rather like the voices in these "printout staves" to be LINKED to their original staves, such that any change in the original staff will automatically be reflected in the respective voice of the combined staff, and vice versa.
Would that be feasible at all?
Thanx - Wolfgang

It's not totally clear what you mean, but you can indeed have a staff linked to multiple staves. Just click the "Create linked staff" button as often as desired. But having a voice linked to a staff is only possible between the score and the parts. As it normally should be - you wouldn't normally need to show both the closed and open versions of the music in the score. Show the closed version in the score, then map those to individual parts. See the Parts page of the Handbook (under Basics) for more info - https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/parts#choose-which-voices-appear-in…

Thanks a lot, Marc, that does it for me!
Sorry for not having been totally clear what I mean, but you obviously understood.
I had come quite a way with Parts, but not all the way yet ... it is now clear to me.
(I'm still on version 3.6.2 - works there as well.)

3.6.2 is definitely quite a bit more limited with respect to how it handles parts - you won't be able to add or remove instruments within a part after creating it, for instance - but some of the basic functionality is indeed there. it's just much easier and more powerful in the current versions.

A major limitation, which I have already pointed out, is the inability to save individual parts in separate files. This does not allow, for example, a text frame to be inserted into a single part (e.g., Corno tacet) without it being reflected in all the parts and the score itself.

Well, there certainly are small handful of limitations in MuseScore 4 compared to 3 as well as the enormous number of limitations in 3 compared to 4, but I don't think the OP specifically mentioned a special need to have independent frames. For the vast majority of users, MU4 will be far more functional than 3, plus having much higher quality sound and engraving.
BTW, even if you can save parts separately, you can certainly just have a separate copies of the score itself, which amounts to the same thing. So no need to give up the incredible improvements in MU4 just on that account. But simpler to just use staff text instead of frames for purposes like the one you mention. having to save separate files for each part is not something one should ever have to resort to, in any version of MuseScore (well, except maybe MuseScore 1). But since this really has no bearing on the topic at hand - linking staves - better to continue it elsewhere to avoid confusing this issue.
