mandolin
Hi. I am new to MuseScore. Is there any possibility that mandolin will be added as an instrument in the future? Thanks. Rick

It already is there, including a TAB option. Either change instruments from Common to All instruments or type mandolin in the search box.

underquark's instructions are correct, but it can be confusing because neither MuseScore 3 or 4 have a built-in mandolin template. So you have to take a few steps to create a mandolin score.
The steps in MuseScore 4 are:
• File>New
• In the dialog click on the Choose instruments option.
• Under Category click Common and choose All Instruments
• Click Strings - Plucked
Mandolin now appears in the Instruments column—unfortunately there's no option to alphabetize the list, so you'll need to scroll to find it.
• Double-click Mandolin or Mandolin + Tab to add either of those options your score.
But the using the Instrument column search field is simpler:
• File>New
• In the dialog click on the Choose instruments option.
• Type "man" in the Instrument's search field.
• Double-click Mandolin or Mandolin + Tab to add either of those options your score.
To avoid these steps in the future, save an empty Mandolin score and use it as a template.
