Musescore 4 Crashing
Musescore began to crash constantly (usually after a minute or two of using it). Crashes occur mainly when i try to listen to a particular part of my score that seems advanced in some way (has extensive instumentalization, i work with new Musescore 4 sounds from Muse Hub). My PC has 16GB of RAM and SSD drive so it shouldn't cause any problems. I add one of registry files before it crashed. Please help...

Here, I was talking about the crescendo on page 25. Around this moment the program sometimes crashes.

See if you can come up with precise steps to reproduce the problem. If it crashes for you sometimes but not otherwise, it is presumably a result of following slightly different steps. We need to know the ones that crash.

Actually it appears to happen completely randomly at this point... I have no idea whats wrong. The only explanation i can see is warnings and errors in the log files. I don't think there is any specific action that causes this problem.

Musescore is unusable as it is. In my case it crashes while setting up the new score. Not once, not twice, gave up after third crash. Other times it crashed while working with it.
That's what you get when you put a narcissistic youtuber clown in charge.
Good luck!

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble! I’m not aware of any other reports of crashes during score setup, and certainly I’ve never seen that happen. So it must be something very unique to your particular situation. In order for anyone to be able to investigate, you’d need to open an issue on GitHub with the precise steps to reproduce the problem. Or if you need help figuring the precise steps, start a new thread here with your best description of the general process, and maybe someone can help you figure out the precise steps.

I appreciate your willing to help but I do think that a big mistake was done even then when the big changes where announced. Something is wrong with Musescore 4 in its core. A software that wasn't broken before the big update. Is it just a miracle that Dorico and Sibelius work well in my system? Or the couple of heavy-weight DAW's that I work with?
As I have work to do I won't spend time troubleshooting software. Will keep an eye on Musescore's developement though. Maybe one day you'll come to your senses and get rid of the youtuber clown.
Wish you a pleasant summer!

Every software has bugs. I personally don't experience more with 4.0.2 than with 3.6.2 or other previous versions, but it all depends on your particular system and the steps you follow. Again, if you believe there is a problem, no one can even begin to look at it until you help us out by reporting the steps to reproduce the problem.
Not sure why you think the person who happens to have an executive job has any effect whatsoever on the developer's ability to fix bugs though. Regardless of who is in charge, developers cannot fix bugs you fail to report. If there is a bug you've encountered but not reported, and it isn't fixed, that isn't the fault of anyone at MuseScore. Again, bugs cannot be fixed until they are reported, regardless of who is in charge.

If I may, there may be too many bugs for the MuseScore4 to be workable for certain (paying) clients.
Mine crashes when I open MuseScore 4 on my iMac and:
-Try to start a new score
-Try to save a score
-Hit any button on my keyboard within the program
-Click any action with my mouse within the program
Currently, the above list applies to ANY new score and has been an issue through three of my computer's operating software updates.
Things I've tried:
-Uninstalling Musescore 4 and reinstalling Musescore 4
-Taking Musescore 3 off my computer
-Reverting to an older operating system on my computer
-Trying to work with a downloaded score that was created with MuseScore 4
-Trying to work with a downloaded score that was created with MuseScore 3
Working with Musescore 4 with no other programs open on my computer
Things I've not tried:
-Upping the memory on my computer
-Asking a professional developer the exact details on whether this may or may not be a core issue
Looking forward to your advice.
Kind regards,
Amanda Quick

Sounds like you are having a very unique problem - sorry to hear it! I recommend starting a new thread and attaching as much info as you can about the specifics of your system - which version of macOS, what audio hardware you are using, what display. Also what other audio programs you might be running, including if you have any VST instruments installed. Also if you are running any special accessibility settings in your OS, like hover text, and if you any third party keyboard macro or similar utilities that might be interfering.
Again, please start a new thread for this, as what you are experiencing seems to be unique and not connected to any other specific problem discussed in this thread. Starting a new thread will make it much easier for people to assist.

Hey Marc,
Thanks so much for getting back to me in an expeditious manner. Looking forward to finding a resolution, as I've been on (and in love with) this platform for years and refuse to move, ha ha.
Cheers and kind regards,
Amanda

And other things you haven't tried:

> If I may, there are perhaps too many bugs for MuseScore4 to be practical for certain (paying) customers.
MuseScore is and always has been free software. There are no paying customers!
You (maybe) pay on musescore.com for downloading music from others, but that has nothing to do with this software that you can download on musescore.org.

A very valid point, thank you for the reminder.

A step by step help-explaining How to's) could/may be useful?
I just arrived like diving in a dark water….
I just got a new laptop and though MuseScore 4 is working much better on this than on the old one (it was literally unusable) it still crashes instantly when too many instruments are playing at the same time. It is clearly not a well optimized software and needs significant work. All previous versions work just fine

Doesn't crash for me no matter how many instruments are playing. Please post at least part of a score that crashes for you.
