Courtesy notes
I used to know how to do this, but sadly age has sabotaged my powers of recall.
I want to add a courtesy note.
For example:
The part in question sings an A flat. I wish to insert a courtesy G sharp after the A flat, in brackets and in small size, and don't wish this to affect the playback,
I stress that I am not talking about a courtesy accidental - they are dead easy!
Comments
Use a grace note after, bracket it via the noteheads palette and disable it's play property

What about adding a small courtesy enharmonic with its accidental in MS 4? I'm trying to get the (small) parentheses to surround both. I can get small parentheses to surround the accidental, but can't move the right-hand one to the right of the notehead without moving the whole accidental/parentheses group. I can bracket the notehead and move the left hand one to the left of the accidental, but can't figure out how to make those parentheses small.

Is this what you're looking for? I used a grace note and applied the accidental using the toolbar. I then highlighted both the note and the accidental using ctrl+click and when I typed shift+9 (for the parentheses) it grouped both the enharmonic note and accidental in the parentheses.
