creating lyrics or more than one word or syllable all expressed during duration of one note?
One thing in particular I can't figure out: namely, where there are more than one word or syllable that I want to be said/sung with only ONE note. I have read the manual discussing lyrics and I can't find anything that tells me how to do that. The software insists that I have one word only so when I press the space bar it takes me to the next note even when the word is "a" or "to" or longer words or multi word phrases "fairest" or "morning dew" can't be made to appear in relationship to a single note no matter whether it is a whole note, half or quarter note.
I am not by any stretch a real musician but I sometimes write a MuseScore version of an old folk or traditional song with changes, especially transpose to a different key, change lyrics and sometimes notes or other changes. I have both MS 3 and 4. I don't use MS 4 much because it seems more technical and so more difficult for me and takes way too long. Its problems like the one described above that bother those like me who are ordinary amateurs playing for fun and sometimes reach a modest level of personal satisfaction.

Thank you very much. But I don't believe the instructions or comments in the handbook for either 3 or 4 are understandable as to my issue. You have to already know how to do it, there's nothibg there that says "if you want more than one word per note do this….. " I think my own inexperience makes it hard for someone as expert as you to see a simple answer I can use.

Take a look at the old How To: https://musescore.org/en/node/21522

Did that - I think I understand how to do it that way. Ctrl+spacebar looks more simple for simple me. Thanks.

What do you not understand when handbook says:
In most cases, lyrics can be edited just like normal text. However, special keyboard shortcuts are required to enter the following characters:
Space character: Ctrl+Space (Mac: Alt+Space).
