More specifically, I think Jojo means: Toggle the Play property in the Inspector. The result will apply to any selected notes.
While we're on the topic, does anyone know if there's a shortcut for toggling Inspector>Play?

Yep. I'm a lazy typer ;-)
And no, AFAIK there's no such shortcut
