Chords won't playback (playback button is greyed out)
ISSUE: My chords won't play back during editing or playback
VERSION: Latest (4.1.1)
OS: Windows 11
WHAT I'VE TRIED:
- Ensuring that the play button is checked in the inspector
- Making sure the shortcut is "Add text: Chord Symbol" (in my case, Ctrl+K)
- Ensuring nothing is soloed (unless it's the chord playback) and that the track is unmuted and all the way up in the mixer
- Going into Format -> Style -> Chord Symbols
- Going into Edit -> Preferences -> Note Input and ensuring play chord symbol when editing is checked (doesn't play while editing)
- Unchecking audio enhancements and exclusive control on my default audio device
- Trying all available audio devices as playback options
- Updating to the latest musescore version
I attached a screenshot showcasing my issue where I've selected the Am7 chord but playback is greyed out; I'm not entirely sure why the playback button is greyed out for chord symbols but that isn't the case for notes (which are playing back correctly). It's possible I could have missed something, but I wanted to reach out because I didn't see any posts mentioning this particular issue.
Finally, thanks for the great updates, been having a great experience with Musescore4 so far (besides the occasional frustrating bug or glitch). Keep up the great work!

We can't hear it either.
Better attach the score itself

Oh yeah that'd probably be a good call :)
Something I also just realized when attaching the score is that if you solo a chord track on the mixer, once the mixer is closed the track isn't soloed anymore? This isn't the case with other tracks, so chord symbols must be handled differently somehow. The mute button is also locked to on in the mixer for me which I didn't realize until now, so I suppose my issue is I need to find a way to toggle it off.
I muted everything except the Piano and Master (and the bass and piano chord tracks are locked on mute I suppose)
They do play here, it is difficult to hear both though, piano chord symbols and bass chord symbols, but both do sound

That's really strange, I have different behavior. I recorded a screencast of everything except the piano muted and whenever it's time for the chord symbols they won't play at all (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aDoO6FBghdRqnOomx3-5zv2Y-_zIqWkp/view?…). In my video editor there's no recorded sound, so it can't be that it's just imperceptible, but it must be something on my end; I used to be able to hear chord sounds, but I can't hear them in ANY musescore4 project anymore.

Try Help > Revert to factory settings

That worked! I'm not sure what it was that was interfering with the chord playback but glad we got it figured out! Now I get to actually rewrite my original chord progression, it definitely needs some work.
Thanks for your help!
