Cannot download or install Muse Hub
Needless to say, I was excited to see the launch of MuseScore 4! Not known to me, however, was the launch of MuseHub. I was able to download MuseScore4 just fine, but I first tried to download MuseHub, but have yet to be able to even get it to download. (Again, downloading MS4 minus the Hub was just fine, and MS4 works perfectly.) I keep getting an error message on my Windows 11 laptop (shown below as a screenshot of the error message, with yellow highlight as the error message, and circled in red is the button I used to attempt the download from musescore.org). I cannot figure out what app W11 is missing, so that it can't translate the installation file(s) to get it to work.
Help! And thanks in advance,
Eric

What location on musescore.ORG (since you mention that specifically) did you choose to achieve a download?

I outlined it in my screenshot. It is the "Download" button on the front page. I attempted via the Windows button (I run Windows 11 -- which may be the Worst. Operating. System. Ever, if you're trying to transfer files, or even do what should be simple tasks!).

I should also mention that I juxtaposed the "Download" button with the error message I received, for the sake of using only one screenshot.

I had to temporarily disable my firewall, and I was finally able to download Muse Hub. Strange solution, but it worked! Of course, once it was downloaded, I immediately turned my firewall back on! I’m using Firefox on a Windows 11 device.
Hope all is well with you. Peace!
I have the same MuseHub dormancy problem. It may help if I supply the most recent installation attempt's program log, one of several versions of "current.txt" from my C:\ProgramData\MuseHub\Logs folder. The "Waiting for client to connect..." line seems to indicated that there is a problem in making the required contact with the Muse web site.
I tried to re-install Muse_Hub after doing a recent Windows Update - just on the off-chance it might install now. Here is the log file from that attempt. It shows evidence of some quite serious crashes the installation program is undergoing, involving problems accessing standard Microsoft libraries. It looks like there has been some serious regression going on here. As the software is open-source, and I understand this to be an open-souce community, is there anybody out there who has tried to do a build of the install software we all seem to be troubled by, and run it in a debugger?

I think we need to keep trying. It doesn't fail for everybody. In fact, it dosn't entirely fail for me.
I have a second PC that is new but budget-sized so has only a smallish (16.5 inch but luckily full HD) screen, 4GB memory and 128GB filestore capacity, and can carry less of my favourite software and audio files, so it is difficult to use it that much, even though it is quite nice. And as it is new it has Windows 11, which my big computer can't run.
That might make a difference, because at the first attempt it seems to have quietly downloaded much or all of the Musescore paraphernalia, which might possibly fill up its little filestore world, if I let it! And there is a real risk of not having enough working memory to run all the sound libraries. Perhaps I should see how I get on.
I do believe there are people out there who would take the chance of buying a new laptop PC just to see if it might get them a reasonable chunk of the new Musescore sound library facilities.

The problem you are going to have is the 4 gb ram. MU4 needs a minimum of 8, and really wants 16. There will always be a bit of a delay for everything you do. I have one computer that only has 4 gb and it doesn't run well.

Thank you for the warning!
It alerted me to the fact that I have a slightly older laptop that probably won't ever be able to go to Windows 11, but does have 8gb memory and 1TB of diskspace. Always worth a try...
Despite "only" running Windows 10, its Window installation has had a less chequered career than my 16gb machine's, and has installed and run Muse Hub without complaint, and may be able to do quite a lot of what is needed, if not everything - I'll just have to see.
A much less risky start than needing to go off and buy a new big-spec laptop just to get going!

And the drive needs to be an SSD.

needs -> should better be
And not just for MuseScore, but in general. If you'd everfelt the differentce, you'd never want to go back

Yes - a call to action. That lost part of one's life spent waiting unnecessarily long for computers to start up. I have one that has been sitting on a shelf for ages waiting for me to install it in the 8gb notebook machine, and my regular machine runs with a SSD as the main storage. As a result of my inaction, the download and installation onto the notebook via Muse Hub of the sound modules was very much slower than in my wife's cheap-processor 8gb touch-screen notebook machine in which I long ago replaced the main drive with a decent SSD - a great success even though the performance gain in that machine has been at the expense of very occasional freeze-ups.

So, does MuseScore work by using an iPad? If not, I need to get a refund.

No, the MuseScore editor does not work on iPad and nobody anywhere ever claimed that it would.
But it if where, it'd be free, like it is for Windows, Linux and macOS, so what would you want a refund for?

I'm glad to hear that, it is good news. But only for you, I'm afraid, not for others. I wonder if you have changed your hardware or software environment in some way that has helped the installer to work? The file called Muse_Hub.exe, as downloaded today, is unchanged from that of early September (02/09/2023). The black framed Muse Hub runs and doesn't crash, so it just stays there as before but when run it produces the sort of "access permissions" error notifier produced when any MuseHub ".msix" file is run on my machine. See attached.

Oh I have only succeeded downloading most of the stuff(which hadn't worked on my computer), I haven't yet tried to run it!

I've tried to apply musesounds on musescore and fortunately it works! Probably there was a software update on my computer after I tried and it didn't work. I don't think anything else was done.
