Set the metronome ticks
I want the to change the metronome not to tick on every 8th note but 1/4 note. How do I do that?

No idea. What have you tried so far?Have you read the handbook? - is there something missing that could be improved upon?

I have entered the search text in the handbook for metronome but there is no entry that I can find that show the user how to change the number of clicks for 6/8 time.
Have a look at

I am using MuseScore 4 (OS: Windows 10 Version 2009 or later, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.1.1-232071203, revision: e4d1ddf)
and I get six clicks in playback.

This runs at 70 beats per second. Change this to 90 or more bps and you get 2 clicks per measure. (3.6.2)
But I'm afraid that can't be changed.

Workaround: Set 90 bpm and reduce the playback speed in the playback panel to 78%.
As far as I know this is linked to the time signature. E.g. if you use a 3/4 signature, you get 3 ticks, if you use a 6/8 signature you get 6 ticks per measure.
If you want to have a different tick sequence, use an additional instrument, e.g. the wood block, and write your own tick sequence.

I think six ticks in MS3 and two ticks in MS4

It depends on the tempo. At slow tempos you get 6 clicks; at faster tempos, only 2. At least that is how it goes in MU3, I haven't tried with MU4 yet. I don't recall at what tempo the change occurs.

Yes, that's it! Tempo 120: 2 ticks, tempo 80: 6 ticks.
MuS 3.

I am using MS3.6.2, but as I said, 2 ticks now, 6 ticks this morning.
I played a bit with time signatures to test it. Maybe the many changes are to blame.
