play instruments that are not in the current part - Musescore 4
I use MuseScore 3 to prepare sing-along practice recordings for individual parts for my choir.
I create excerpts (parts) with the voices but without piano, but record the practice files with piano. For this I used the "Play part only" (off) switch in the mixer and was able to set the piano properties.
This is what I miss in MuseScore 4: I can see every instrument in the mixer, but I can't unmute the piano in the current part. (M(ute) Button is disabeled, S(olo) Button mutes only other voices).
Is there a way to play back instruments that are not in the current part?

First make the piano visible, then the piano in the mixer will be enabled.

I don't want to show the piano score in the part, I just want to hear it.

The piano can be made invisible by clicking on the small triangle in "Instruments".
There, you can make both staves invisible and the piano remains audible.
The eye before the word "Piano" must be open.

This is a bit tricky and very inconvenient. I can switch off a maximum of 3 of the 4 voices and still have to select "hide all measures that do not contain notation (cutaway)".
Since I don't have a 4th voice anywhere in the scores, this works for me (so far).

But I think that a solution like in Musescore 3 ("Play part only") and enable the M(ute) button for all instruments would be a good idea for further releases.

Actually, the Instruments palette route works for any number of instruments. And is better, I think, because you don't have to have the mixer open (taking up space) at all. I just did this with seven instruments plus piano.
As mentioned above, open your score. Open the Instruments palette. Click the little arrow next to the eye for the piano. Below, close the eyes next to the two staves. Piano part disappears. But can still be heard in playback. Close the eyes for all the parts you don't want to hear or see. That and the piano only will be heard. Export. Close the eye for that part and open the eye for the next part. Test playback if you must. Export. And so forth.

Thanks, that's a much better and more intuitive solution when you see the second eye that I had overlooked.
