Viewing Autosave files?
I'm trying to view an Autosave file, as opposed to a backup file. I have found the .mscbackup folder and renamed the appropriate file, but it doesn't have the work I was looking for. I'm hoping that one of the Autosave files, located in my main Scores folder will have the work I'm missing. Does anyone know, or is there a way to view these files? I tried, but I get a message saying it's an unknown file type (*.autosave). Thanks.

Make sure that your finder/file explorer program is set to see hidden files.
I use ubuntu linux and my backup files are in .../Documents/MuseScore4/Scores/.msbackup
Rename the backup file by removing the leading dot, taking off the tilde at the end or removing .autosave - basically just make sure the filename is xxxx.mscz without any extra bits.

Appreciate the reply. However, I've already found the backup files in the mscbackup folder. I'm wondering if it's possible to view the Autosave files in the main Scores folder.

Remove the .autosave part from the filename.

I accidentally set Musescore to be the default app for this file type. The autosave file names no longer contain ".autosave". Is there a way to remove the suffix at this point?

They still do, Windows' Explorer just hides 'known' extensions from you, a very stupid and dangerous thing actually, but one you can (and should) change in the explorer settings
